Activities

The "One Health Network" is a three year project (2008-2010) funded by the Belgian Develoment Cooperation. The main activities are as follows:

  1.  A first workshop on disease burden assessment both in humans and in animals will take place in 2009. A collaboration with the EU FP-7 ICONZ (integrated control of neglected zoonoses) project is envisaged. This workshop will focus on quantitative aspects of disease burden assessment methodologies.
  2. A second workshop on the intersectoral collaboration between the medical and the veterinary profession is scheduled for 2010, possibly in collaboration with the be-troplive and be-cause-health platforms.
  3. Organisation of Knowledge-Attitude-Practice (KAP) surveys on zoonotic diseases and transmission in developing countries: focus-group surveys are developed to study the perception of cysticercosis in Eastern Zambia and hydatidosis in Morocco and identify sociologically accpetable control methods
